TO TEACH, TO LEARN, TO GROW

Why? Why start a Christian website teaching God’s word with no experience and no followers? Aren’t there others that already do this?

These are great questions, and I could provide a multitude of reasons, but as a believer and follower of Jesus, I desire to follow his commands. Jesus commanded his disciples, “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV). Jesus was telling his disciples to go speak and teach everyone the way he taught them to live, and the freedom he provides. The teachings of Christ are far different than any other religion.

Unlike all other religions, that rely on personal performance, Jesus taught that there is nothing a person can do to earn their salvation and obtain eternal life. Ouch! As a control freak that hurts, however, it provides freedom. We no longer have to think that God has a scoreboard in Heaven tracking our good and bad deeds. The price of admission to Heaven is perfection in following God’s commandments. Jesus led a perfect (sinless) life and died for us. God allows all of us free will and we may choose the narrow gate that leads to eternal life or the wide gate that leads to destruction. (Matthew 7:13-14). Jesus is the narrow gate that leads to eternal life. If we accept his gift by confessing our faith and belief in him, admitting that we are sinners seeking forgiveness, and desire to turn from our sinful ways, then we will attain eternal life through the blood of Christ. Does this mean we must no longer sin? No, we are still in our human flesh, and as such we will not be perfect. For a true profession of faith in Christ people will not be sinless, but they will sin less. As a person deepens their relationship with God, they develop more of a desire to do God’s will over theirs.

As someone who needs things broken down into bite-sized portions and the use of metaphors and examples to understand, it is my desire to go through the Bible and provide this information for all. Most importantly, I want to show how each person can apply the Bible’s knowledge and principles into their daily lives. This is fulfilling my desire to follow Christ’s command to make disciples of all the nations. I hope to provide easy to understand explanations of the Bible so everyone can see how interlaced God’s word is from Genesis through Revelation. As we go through the Bible together it is my desire to answer any questions people may have by emailing me at tom@thenarrowgateministry.net.
